A Safe, Confidential Space to Explore Your Emotions
If you are looking for a Gestalt therapist specialising in grief and loss in Brighton and online, I am here to help.
My name is Clive Rossington, and I have years of experience helping people deal with the complex emotions that come when we experience a loss of some kind, from bereavement to losing your job, to experiencing a loss of identity and self-esteem. I also work closely with those who require support when it comes to gender, sexuality, and identity. Together we will openly discuss the present-day thoughts and feelings that underpin your problems and explore them in a creative, collaborative, compassionate way, with each session adapted to suit your specific needs.

Bereavement, Grief and Loss
We experience loss in various ways. If a loved one has recently passed away, you may feel angry, guilty, in denial, highly depressed, or unmotivated. Managing these feelings alone can be overwhelming and even lead to deeper issues such as depression. I am here to help you navigate these complex emotions in a safe professional environment where you can process the loss of a loved one in your own unique way. Everyone experiences bereavement differently, and there is no right way to grieve. Moving past these difficult feelings and towards a better place takes time, and I will be with you every step of the way as you make this transition.
However, the painful feelings associated with loss can occur in response to various events. The ending of a relationship, for example, can be difficult to cope with alone, and you may need help dealing with the complexities of holding on and letting go. I understand how difficult it can be to adjust to new life circumstances – from losing a family member, to breaking up with a long-term partner, to coming to terms with Covid – and provide the space and personalised support you need to start the healing process and, over time, come to a place of acceptance.
Personal Empowerment
An important part of Gestalt therapy is empowering you to take a more active and positive role in how you think, perceive the world, and engage in relationships. You may tell yourself on a regular basis that you are ‘not good enough’, or ‘need to do more’. Many people do this and accept it as a normal mode of thinking. I help you view these thoughts from a new perspective, allowing you to recognise how these thoughts are an unconscious way of undermining yourself and preventing you from living happily in the present moment.
Whether you are experiencing relationship issues, depression, anxiety, confidence issues, eating disorders, work stress, issues with gender identity, I am here to help you rediscover your inner power and take control of difficult thoughts that come into your mind. Our work is done in a friendly, hands-on, collaborative way, and is always personalised in accordance with your exact situation.
Although specialising in the above areas, the Gestalt therapy I provide has been demonstrated to help people with a wide number of issues, such as:
